Item type:Publication, Optimization of heterogeneous capacities considering the profit margin per product(Center for Strategic Studies in Business and Finance SSBFNET, 2023-06-17) ;Reyner Pérez-Campdesuñer; ;Gelmar García-Vidal ;Rodobaldo Martínez-VivarFernando Uset-RuizThis paper aims to present a proposal to improve this methodology for the analysis of heterogeneous capacities based on the profit margin per product. Which was structured in three moments: development of the proposal, deployment in a business context, and validation of the results through the application of a linear programming method. This proposal considers the five initial steps of the existing tools as a starting point, taking as a reference the normal time available for each homogeneous group and introducing modifications in the steps. The application of the methodology in the conditions of SMEs demonstrated its ability to generate results superior to those of traditional methods and similar to those obtained by specific linear programming techniques. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Coopetition in business relationships: Validation and improvement of the coopetitive paradox model(Arts and Science Press Pte. Ltd., 2024-11-29) ;Jimmy Gabriel Díaz Cueva; ;Mariana Malvina Iozzeli ValarezoYandi Fernández-OchoaThe purpose of this study was to validate the conceptual model of the coopetitive paradox proposed by Gnyawali et al.[1] This qualitative study, using grounded theory, involved 54 executives from 25 companies from Ecuador’s agriculture sector. The results validated and complemented the conceptual model of the coopetition paradox, filling up important knowledge gaps related to the sources of the dualities and contradictions that drive the paradoxical coopetitive situations in an inter-company network. New findings indicate that the willingness of firms for collaborate with competitors is influenced by the competitive position, the emphasis on the strategic development of the sector, and the interest in long-term sustainability, inferring that an individualistic business culture that emphasizes competitiveness significantly limits the drive for coopetitive strategies. It was also found that the ability to identify and manage sources of tension in coopetitive relationships is determined by the structure of managerial thinking in top managers. As a result of this study, 13 new tentative propositions were incorporated into the theoretical model. This represents an important contribution on strategic management by highlighting the meaning of coopetition to increase the perceived value of customers and the network, even in the presence of conflicts, rivalries and divergent interests. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Scopus© Citations 9 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Unlocking the power of investment decision making with MATLAB: A cutting-edge method for optimizing capacities(Pakistan Home Economics Association, 2023-09-26); ; ;
Purpose: The aim of this research was to present a method that would allow responding to both interests in a staggered and proportional way, in correspondence with existing financial availability.
Design/Methodology/Approach: This research shows the results of the application of a methodological proposal programmed in MATLAB, which provided a solution to the described problem.
Findings: The application was carried out in a small company, which has three fundamental products, and allowed to optimize the use of the available capital, increasing both the installed capacities and the potential demand for the products offered.
Conclusion: It is possible to define an investment strategy that, based on the existence of an amount of financial availability, alternates the investment in the limiting capacity or the commercialization actions in correspondence with what is the limitation of the organization, which can be a limitation of capacity or market. This favors a systematic increase in the utility of the organization.
Practical Implications: An analysis algorithm is developed that can serve as a guide for businessmen to design investment strategies aimed at increasing demand or capacity restrictions, as the case may be, based on financial availability and contributing to the systematic increase in the utility of the organization under study.
Contribution to Literature: A method is presented that combines the analysis of capacity restrictions with those of demand restrictions, an aspect that is generally addressed in the literature independently.
Scopus© Citations 1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Key Determinants of Successful Advertising in the Context of SMEs: An Empirical Analysis in Ecuador(Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2025-02-24); ; ; ; Margarita De Miguel-GuzmánToday there is an almost unquestionable recognition of the impact that good advertising actions could have on sales. However, what is not entirely clear is which variables could favor or limit the impact of advertising actions in the context of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). In this sense, this research aimed to delve into which variables affect and to what extent they do so in the impact of advertising campaigns on the increase in the results of MSMEs in Ecuador. For this purpose, an analysis of advertising campaigns was carried out in 425 representative organizations of different activities, such as: gastronomy, personal services, clothing trade, food trade or supplies trade; In the same way, the commercialization is carried out in a personal, indirect or mixed way and they use as communication media: Internet, television, press or print media, radio or mixed. The study evaluated variables such as: the level of competition, customer satisfaction, the intensity and quality of the campaign, the capital invested, the stage of the life cycle or the age of the product that is advertised. As a general result, the existence of a direct correlation between the increase in sales and independent variables such as: invested capital, intensity of campaign, customer satisfaction; and a negative correlation with the level of competence and the stage of the life cycle. No differences were found between the different media, the type of activity or the sales mechanism. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Relationships between well-being, resilience, leadership, and perceived success in SME owners-managers of Ecuador(Arts and Science Press Pte. Ltd., 2024-02-29); ; ;Laritza Guzmán-Vilar; This paper aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of entrepreneurial success among owners and managers of Ecuadorian SMEs through the relationship between variables such as business efficiency, psychological resilience and perceived entrepreneurial leadership. We surveyed 385 SME owners and managers in Ecuador and employed hierarchical linear modeling to analyze the data. The findings of this article suggest that entrepreneurial well-being, psychological resilience, and entrepreneurial leadership perceived by owners and managers of Ecuadorian SMEs are positively correlated with entrepreneurial success. There may be a tendency to associate success with economic performance. The practical implications of this study are that owner-managers of SMEs can use the developed measurement scale to evaluate their success and identify areas where they may need support or improvement and develop strategies to foster the best possible business experience. The study also provides insights into factors affecting entrepreneurial success and highlights the importance of promoting a positive entrepreneurial experience. In addition, the study contributes to literature by identifying some limitations and identifying areas for future research. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Variables de la responsabilidad social corporativa. Un modelo de ecuaciones estructurales(Salesian Polytechnic University of Ecuador, 2022-09-29) ;Luis Arnolis Reyes Ramírez ;Caridad Leyva del Toro;
Scopus© Citations 13
