Item type:Publication, Financial Literacy, Trust, and Socioeconomic Determinants of Borrowers’ Behavior in Credit Card Use: A PLS-SEM Analysis(MDPI AG, 2025-12-22); ; ; ; Margarita De Miguel-GuzmánCredit cards play a central role in household financial behavior by combining payment and short-term financing functions shaped by socioeconomic, cognitive, and attitudinal factors. This study examines the determinants of credit card use and repayment behavior in Ecuador, focusing on purchasing power, financial literacy, and institutional trust. A quantitative, cross-sectional, and explanatory design was applied to a probabilistic sample of 550 credit card users from Quito and Santo Domingo. Multivariate analyses and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM)—including formative and hierarchical constructs—were used to validate the proposed behavioral framework. The results show that higher income is associated with more responsible repayment, while financial literacy and trust mediate this relationship through cognitive and attitudinal mechanisms. Moderate R2 values and small-to-moderate f2 effect sizes align with patterns observed in other Latin American credit markets. Behavioral differences also emerge across age, gender, and household composition, underscoring the heterogeneity of financial capability in the region. The findings demonstrate that responsible credit card indebtedness depends not only on economic capacity but also on financial knowledge and institutional trust, offering practical implications for financial inclusion policies and targeted education programs in emerging economies. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Demographic Capital and the Conditional Validity of SERVPERF: Rethinking Tourist Satisfaction Models in an Emerging Market DestinationTourist satisfaction models typically assume that service performance dimensions carry the same weight for all travelers. Drawing on Bourdieu, we reconceptualize age, gender, and region of origin as demographic capital, durable resources that mediate how visitors decode service cues. Using a SERVPERF-based survey of 407 international travelers departing Quito (Ecuador), we test measurement invariance across six sociodemographic strata with multi-group confirmatory factor analysis. The four-factor SERVPERF core (Access, Lodging, Extra-hotel Services, Attractions) holds, yet partial metric invariance emerges: specific loadings flex with demographic capital. Gen-Z travelers penalize transport reliability and safety; female visitors reward cleanliness and empathy; and Latin American guests are the most critical of basic organization. These patterns expose a boundary condition for universalistic satisfaction models and elevate demographic capital from a descriptive tag to a structuring construct. Managerially, we translate the findings into segment-sensitive levers, visible security for youth and regional markets, gender-responsive facility upgrades, and dual eco-luxury versus digital-detox bundles for long-haul segments. By demonstrating when and how SERVPERF fractures across sociodemographic lines, this study intervenes in three theoretical conversations: (1) capital-based readings of consumption, (2) the search for boundary conditions in service-quality measurement, and (3) the shift from segmentation to capital-sensitive interpretation in emerging markets. The results position Ecuador as a critical case and provide a template for destinations facing similar performance–perception mismatches in the Global South. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Sociometric Study of Intragroup Relations in a Work Group(Universidad del Pacifico, 2018); ;Guzmán Vilar Laritza ;Betty Alexandra Rivera RiveraThe aim of this study is to explore intragroup relations in retail. The article conduct a sociometric analysis that takes into account labor and affective criteria, using the probability theory method and the UCINET program. In so doing the paper observe that the group, despite having been formally established for more than five years, does not display any solid indicators of high cohesion. The article observe that formal authority and informal leadership do not coincide and that there are two group factions in both criteria, which supports the finding of low cohesion. But despite these deficiencies in terms of cohesion, paper do not find any completely ignored or solitary individuals; as such, the group has established relations that can be improved. To this end, group cohesion should be promoted through a work design that facilitates interaction between individuals and rewards group results, all of which will serve to enhance the performance of this group. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
- Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Understanding the obstacles to successful strategic management implementation in Ecuadorian SMEs(LLC CPC Business Perspectives, 2024-09-26); ; ; ; Laritza Guzman-VilarDespite full recognition of strategic management in the success of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), little attention has been paid to the factors that contribute to the failure of its implementation in the Ecuadorian context. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the obstacles that hinder the successful implementation of strategic management in SMEs in Ecuador. A quantitative study approach was employed. The initial sample comprised 105 entrepreneurs, who were administered a checklist to evaluate the status of strategic planning implementation within their organizations. Based on their responses, nine entrepreneurs were selected for in-depth analysis, categorized as follows: three entrepreneurs with a high level of strategic management implementation, three with a moderate level of implementation, and three with minimal or no strategic management practices. This identified the primary obstacles to effective strategic management implementation. Finally, a comprehensive survey was applied to all participants to quantify these barriers, which allowed the construction of the final model used for the subsequent analysis. Through structural equation modeling, the study demonstrated that these obstacles negatively and significantly correlated with the level of strategic management implementation, revealing that businesses with minimal or no implementation experienced significantly different sales performance compared to those with higher levels of strategic management practices. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Logistic contribution from the vision of the technical services in the hotel industry(Omnia Publisher SL, 2019-06-21) ;Roberto Torres-Rodríguez; ; ; Purpose: The aim of this paper is based on the theoretical and empirical analysis, with the application of multivariate statistics, for the identification of the essential variables that intervene in the technical services processes of the hotel industry and with it the conformation of a theoretical model for the management of this process. Design/methodology/approach: The methodology designed, used for the processing of research, consists of three phases of development where the selection of variables that from the theoretical order appear in the literature consulted, which are subject to comprehensive to an analysis of experts to confirm its existence in the object of practical study. Subsequently, the design of the evaluation methods of the selected variables is carried out, culminating with the analysis of relationships and influences between variables. All of the above under the multivariate statistics approach. Findings: The main results of this research are achieved after the systematic application of the methodology designed, observing the existence of three essential perspectives that affect the management of technical services in hotel industries, which contain a total of 35 variables which were corroborated from the multivariate statistics. These results allowed the creation of a theoretical model for the management of this process, contributing from the logistical approach with the integration of this subsystem to the business management of the hotel sector. Originality/value: The literature shows multiple theoretical sources referring to studies on technical services in productive entities, observing limitations to address this issue from the order of services and with greater emphasis for the cases of the hotel industries. The originality of this material lies in the experimental identification of the main limitations explicit and (or) implicit in contemporary theory, to address the process of technical services in the hotel industry. From the contributions made as part of this investigation, it is possible to identify those incident variables in this process and their grouping into three perspectives. This result illustrates the performance of this process based on the theoretical model proposed. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
