Item type:Publication, Datasets describing optimization of the cutting regime in the turning of AISI 316L steel for biomedical purposes based on the NSGA-II and NSGA-III multi-criteria algorithms(Elsevier BV, 2023-10) ;Hiovanis Castillo Pantoja; ;Roberto Pérez Rodríguez ;Ricardo del Risco AlfonsoJosé Antonio Yarza AcuñaThere are several methods of analysis used in the metalworking industry for dry machining processes and with Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL). Evolutionary methods [1] have been used in the decision-making process in the machining process to select the optimal data and to analyze the behavior of variables such as cutting speed (V), feed rate (f) and cutting depth (ap). This work addresses the use of evolutionary algorithms of low dominance class II and III (NSGA-II and NSGA-III) to analyze from the multicriteria approach the initial wear of the cutting tool (VB), the energy consumption (E) and the machining time (t) in the turning process of the AISI 316L steel workpiece for biomedical purposes. As input variables to the algorithm with 54 records, there are: cutting speed (V: 200, 300, 400 m/min) and feed rate (f: 0.1, 0.15, 0.2 mm/rev). The experiment was developed for a dry (1) turning operation and with the use of MQL (-1). For the MQL lubrication regime, a TRI-COOL MD-1 lubricant was employed, a vegetable type used in ferrous and non-ferrous metal cutting operations. A BIDEMICS JX1 ceramic cutting tool was used.Scopus© Citations 4 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Static Analysis and Design of a Flight Control with Oleopneumatic Centering for a Sidestick CPT/FO in A320 Simulators(International Information and Engineering Technology Association, 2025-03-31); ;José Luís Palacios Luna ;Raúl Vicente Paredes Loor ;Alexis Cordovés RodríguezLeandro L. Lorente LeyvaThis study presents the design and validation of a Sidestick Captain/First Officer (CPT/FO) prototype with an oleo-pneumatic centering system as an enhancement for the FSTD A320 flight simulator, originally equipped with a conventional mechanical spring system. The objective was to improve the fidelity and response precision of the control system to provide a more realistic and efficient flight simulation experience. The methodology involved mechanical and structural design using SolidWorks, material selection (A36 Steel for the structure and 304 Stainless Steel for the control lever), and validation through static and numerical analyses to ensure structural integrity and system performance. The static analysis confirmed that the components operate within safe limits, and the integration of the oleo-pneumatic system provided a more stable and controlled damping response, closely replicating the behavior of the Airbus A320 Sidestick. Compared to traditional mechanical spring, electromechanical shock absorbers and hydraulic damper systems, the proposed design offers a smoother and more precise response while maintaining simplicity, low maintenance, and costefficiency. This innovation not only enhances the performance of the FSTD A320 simulator but also represents a scalable solution for other flight simulation models, contributing to more effective pilot training and opening opportunities for future improvements through advanced dynamic analysis.Scopus© Citations 1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Incorporating the Cultural and Decisions Factors in Multi-objective Optimization of Air Conditioning Conduit Design Process(Springer International Publishing, 2017-06-23); ;José Arzola-RuizUmer AsgherVarious engineering designs are multi-objective as they contain more than one design goal to be optimized. These design goals theoretically inflict differing requirements on the technical performance of system design. To analyze the trade-offs amongst conflicting design’s multi-objectives and to explore respective design options, an optimization problem with multi objectives has been mathematically modeled in this paper. In the present work, multi-objective optimization of air conditioning conduits and nets design is formulated. The design factors also consider the cultural as well as quantifiable, subjective ergonomics constraints and control decision-making factors. The cultural constraints, such as geographical, historical, sociological, and organizational constraints that determine the efficiency of the design of these nets are also incorporated in the objective function. This is reproduced during the option of filtration and selection from the solutions population generated at the locals and other levels, in which influences of cultural factor and of the decisions making factors are reflected in the subjective preferences.Scopus© Citations 1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Optimization of the parameters for the cutting regime in the sustainable turning of AISI 316L steel, based on the NSAG-II and NSAG-III multi-criteria work scheme(Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2025-09-01) ;José Antonio Yarza Acuña ;Hiovanis Castillo Pantoja; ;Roberto Pérez RodríguezRicardo Lorenzo Avila RondonIn the last decade, AISI 316L austenitic stainless steel has been considered one of the most useful materials for high-demand equipment in the industry due to its mechanical properties. This work shows the multi-criteria analysis of the dry and MQL turning process of AISI 316L steel using the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithms class II and III (NSAG-II and NSAG-III). The wear of the cutting tool (VB), the energy consumption (E), and the machining time (t) are used as study variables, with the aim of minimizing the wear of the cutting tool based on the optimal selection of machining parameters. When comparing the results obtained from both methods, we found that NSAG-III was the best alternative for selecting parameters in the turning operation, with fewer tool wear, more efficient use of energy consumption, and more variants of material removal rate. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Automation of Filter Press Drive Control for Enhanced Palm Oil Extraction(International Information and Engineering Technology Association, 2025-01-31); ;Agustín Moreira Orellana ;Alexis Cordovés Rodríguez ;Ricardo Avila RondonLeandro L. Lorente-LeyvaThe study focuses on the automation of the drive system of a filter press in palm oil extraction plants, with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency, reducing manual intervention and improving process accuracy. The proposal replaces the manual drive with a motorized system controlled by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). A Siemens motor-reducer, model Z79-LE112MC4P-G040M-PN, was used, which guarantees a torque of 777.75 Nm and an output speed of 40 rpm, sufficient to efficiently tighten and release the filter press. The system control was implemented by a Siemens LOGO 230RC PLC, complemented by an AM2 analog expansion module to interpret strain gauge signals. These signals determine the exact moment to stop the motor-reducer once the programmed tightening force is reached. Programming was done in Ladder language using LOGOCONFORT software. The integration of these components improves system consistency and reliability, standardising processing times and reducing physical effort. The results highlight an increase in productivity and operational safety, aligning with modernisation trends in the palm oil industry. This advance represents a significant step towards greater sustainability and competitiveness of the sector.
