Abstract
The main objective of this work is to evaluate the government policy to support innovation and its effect on the probability of innovation in metal-mechanic companies in Ecuador.
Information from the National Survey of Science, Technology and Innovation Activities of Ecuador for 578 metal-mechanic companies is used.
A descriptive analysis was carried out, three econometric models of the logit type are proposed, for six public instruments to support innovation versus three types of innovation.
The results show that companies increase the probability of innovating in goods when using the programs: support for innovation; quality and obtaining certifications. Staff training alone does not increase the probability of innovation in goods.
